The Steering Committee met on 18 November 2013 and is pleased to report on the following outcomes.
- Web site on advanced pharmacy practice. A new web site on Advanced Pharmacy Practice has been launched and can be accessed at www.advancedpharmacypractice.com.au. The site has been created with the support of all organisations represented on the APPFSC in response to a shared desire to have a web site where pharmacists can readily access information and resources on advanced pharmacy practice and other competency standards-related initiatives. It will operate as a central repository site where materials will be uploaded regularly. The Advanced Pharmacy Practice Framework released late last year can be accessed under the ‘Framework’ tab.
- Advanced pharmacy practice recognition model. The APPFSC had further constructive discussions on an advanced pharmacy practice recognition model for Australian pharmacists. The APPFSC has agreed in principle on a structural outline of a recognition model and intends to present a paper describing the model to Steering Committee organisations shortly in order to seek their endorsement before the end of 2013.
- Manuscripts. As reported previously, the APPFSC recognises its role in publicising the work it undertakes on behalf of the pharmacy profession. Three manuscripts are now in the process of being finalised and will be submitted to pharmacy journals for consideration of publication.
